It is very important that when managing/writing a WordPress blog that you use a template that is high quality. There are many benefits to having a high quality theme as compared to a low budget run of the mill template. I’ve been playing with my WordPress templates for months now and I think I’ve just recently come across a template that will work for me. What do you think?
The reason why I think this template will work for me is a few simple reasons. First of all is that it is a bit more rare and less people have this template. That is important because you want to stick out from the pack. If you aren’t different and just the same as all the rest no one will notice your blog and think it is boring. If you blog template looks new and attractive readers will stick around to see what your blog is about before they leave. People have a very short attention span so you need to capture their attention right off the bat or you are going to lose them. I’ve learnt this the hard way time and time again. Having a template that is easy to read, simple to navigate, and is attractive because of the layout and pictures helps keep the readers drawn in.
One thing I’ve noticed in the few days that I’ve been using this template is that my bounce rate for my visitors has dropped significantly and this is great! I am not sure if all of you are familiar with this term so I will explain it in a bit further detail. Basically what bounce rate refers to is that if a person leaves on the same page they entered the website they count as a “bounce”. So say if you had 3 visitors to your website and all 3 of them left on the same page they entered your website you would have a bounce rate of 100%. However if a visitor visits 2 or more pages on the same visit they do not count as a bounce. The idea is to get people to stick around so a website with a lower bounce rate is obviously better. So with a new template like this I’ve managed to decrease my bounce rate by almost 30% already and that is a huge different!
A template like this is also very versatile. You have the ability to put in featured posts like I have done at the top of the blog. You also have the ability with this template to add in video posts. You have fancy tabs on the right for popular posts, comments, featured, and a tab for your tag cloud. In the backend interface you have the ability to change the front page layout and also the color schemes. Most templates do not give you that feature.
The only complaints I’ve had with this template was that a few of the features were broken initially and I had to fix them. For some reason the images for the individual posts was not working and the archive button at the bottom of the home page was not working. However luckily I have a bit of programming knowledge so I was able to edit those problems and fix them.
Overall I recommend that you get yourself a fancy template like this because you will see the positive affects immediately. I know I have and I look forward to see more benefits the longer I use this template.

Great post and very important. Indeed bounce rate is extremely important. Our clients setup Google Analytics to view certain reports. One of the reports is the Bounce Rate report which helps them a lot to maintain their readers. Great article for any blogger!

@Cassandra – I am happy you liked my post! I think it is important to view all of your Google Analytics stats so you can truly tell how your website is doing. I do my best to review my stats each week and then make the appropriate changes. Glad you think this post is a great article for any blogger!

@abrablog – Have you found your wordpress template yet? It took me a long time to find this one and modify it to the way I wanted it. I think its turned out very well for me and has improved my traffic because of it.
