Top 10 Niche Markets To Start An Internet Business

Posted on 27 February 2010 by Michael

Top Niches For Online Business

Niche markets are them superb two words for an area online that you can do a business with, if you only knew how to, but the process of using a niche market to centre yourself as the dominant online presence is a daunting one at that, because of the competition online today.

There are however ten top niches that you could consider going into and there are almost infinite sub niches within these top general niches to build and maintain an online business.

And here we go through the top niche markets to explore:

Make Money or Save Money

Lots of people want to either make money or save money, so they look to the Internet as a way of providing the solutions to their financial problems, making money comes in all shapes and forms online, including work from home opportunities of which there are many legitimate ones and scams all mixed in.

Saving money in this day and age is important to most of us as prices rise and fall, the economic state of the worlds economy is unstable and so we strive to cut back on things we can either do without or we fail to recognize what we need to do, so we turn to others for help, usually with a $9.95 ebook or report that promises to provide the timely information that we need.

The money niche market comes in lots of financial categories, like

  • Debt
  • Insurance
  • Credit cards
  • Loans
  • And many more

So if possible try and specialize in one of these areas or search for a low competitive niche in between the ones above for maximum results.

Self Development

This is an area that there are countless self help gurus out there who simply provide information on reaching your life’s potential and they provide all sorts of information and guidance in all areas of daily living, which could include money, career, health, relationships and anything else that is important to us to better ourselves.

Self development is an area that requires motivation and the ability to motivate others through whatever skills you have, whether that’s written skills or the power of speech, articles and pod casts are the usual self help products that these gurus sell and they also have live seminars too which people go crazy for.

Steve Pavlina is a self help development speaker and author, so if there is anything to learn about this area then it’s at his blog Steve Pavlina.com

Spiritual/Supernatural

This is an area that you might think how do people earn? Well there are many ways for one Horoscopes, these are one of the most popular and abused forms of spiritual destiny that is entwined with the alignment of the planets and birth dates and there are countless horoscopes all saying pretty much the same thing that’s as far as I can tell by reading them anyway.

Another way of this spiritual niche making money is by psychic readings and one to one consultations, people want or need to feel a connection with a deceased loved one just to see if they are ok, only a good idea if you really are psychic to provide this type of service, but there is a demand for it nonetheless.

Of course there are other forms of the supernatural to make money and these could be digital ebooks about Tarot card reading and palm reading and other popular subjects about hunting ghosts, people are just fascinated with the paranormal and they want to find out more.

Information Technology (IT)

The digital age came after the information age and the IT technology that still exists today is something people still need to learn about as it is still relevant now more than ever. Information technology especially to do with computers is something of a popular business and there are manhy facets of this niche that are in demand to be explored.

People want to learn how to do things simpler, they want exact information about how to do something, like how to do spreadsheets, advanced Excel, microsoft word basics, you name it they want to learn with a simple to download ebook from someone who has been there and learned the know how, so you don’t have to.

Information technology goes further than simple ebooks and online website information, it reaches through other online mediums such as podcasts, videos, webinars, offline seminars and public speaking. Information technology can be vast and advanced so products and services are created to cater for those who need it.

Shopping

Online shopping has become huge, in fact billions of online sales are reached each year and the potential to earn through shopping sites as a website owner and affiliate combined are massive if you are prepared to put in the work.

Amazon and ebay being the top two that spring to mind and plus they have their own affiliate programs integrated into the accounts when you sign in, but there are other shopping sites with the potential to earn through affiliate programs aswell as drop shipping programs which allow you to store none of the items as that is all stored elsewhere in a warehouse and whoever makes an order then you buy the product with the money that you recieve from that odrer and you keep the difference between the wholesale price and the mark up price you set.

Dropshipping is something that you could look into f you are interested, but beware of the scams like any other work from home business online.

Health And Fitness

If you’ve been online for quite awhile, you will have noticed ads for health drinks and other health foods, in fact this is a thriving business online and offline, so if you have an interest in the health and fitness industry, then try and start small with a few health drinks and other stuff and build up to a full website, because it is quite competitive trying to promote this type of stuff.

Just think of the demand of certain niches, if there is a huge demand for the products and services then it is a viable business, so people want to get fit an they want to get healthy too and there will be stopping in this niche because that will always be a certainty of people wanting to improve their overall fitness.

Relationship/Dating

The dating and relationships industry is also a good one too, particularly as an affiliate of the larger dating sites which members have to pay a fee to retain their membership status each and every month, whether people feel isolated or alone they feel that they need to visit dating sites as a way to combat this affliction.

Other examples of ebooks and reports to write in this niche are: How to meet the women of your dreams, tips on going speed dating, top places to date, it’s all about that surpirise statement “giving people what they want” find what’s being searched upon and creating something targeted to those people searching for it.

Life Problems And Solutions

Anything you can think of in life that is a problem you can bet that there is a solution to that problem and that’s the key to think bout, trying to find multiple problems and creating the solutions for them is something anyone can do.

This niche anything in life could apply, like how to deal with traffic wardens maybe you have some expert ways to deal with these evil people, or maybe you know the exact methods to clean windows with natural household ingredients, people want to know this stuff and they will pay for it.

Food Recipes And Cooking

Food recipes are very popular as are cooking tips and information about foods from all over the world, this niche requires a love of food and an interest in cooking too, plus take into account that people could want to eat healthy so you could provide cooking tips from this market view or any other you can think of.

Recipes and cuisine from Indian, Chinese, Italian,Thai,English and any other country are highly sought after, but also this is a saturated market so a little inventiveness could work or a completely new angle to promote this niche market is needed.

Hobbies And Crafts

Specialist hobbies and crafts that people want to know more about include drawing and painting, sewing, stamp collecting and any other hobbies you can think of.

Again people want to know or find out more about how to do certain crafts and hobbies that they look online more than anywhere else.

So when looking for a niche try and look in between the lines of the 10 niche markets above and try to fit it in with your own hobbies and interests so that you can excel your business that little bit quicker by eliminating the time needed for extra topic research.

I personally enjoy both the Information Technology niche and the Make money niches.  I think they are great and they are what interest me the most.  That is way I try to write about them as much as I can.  The more I write about them the more I learn about them as well.  It’s always good to keep up on the latest technology and make money in the process.  Can’t go wrong with that.

How To Make Money With Vanity Barcodes

Posted on 14 February 2010 by Michael

It’s been more than three years since we wrote about Japanese Design Barcode, with its clever and whimsical UPC designs. Proving that the idea still has plenty of merit, New Jersey-based Vanity Barcodes just launched a similar service to help businesses take advantage of what it considers the little-known marketing potential of the decorative barcode.

Vanity Barcodes offers an ever-growing library of stock barcode designs that are customizable with any unique product UPC or similar code format. Birds, cows, candy bars, paint brushes, books, flowers and purses are all among the standard designs Vanity Barcodes offers, with customized pieces available as well. All codes are pretested for scan compliance to ensure that they work just as well as standard barcodes. Pricing ranges from USD 375 for one barcode design to USD 200 for 10 or more; supported code formats include UPC, EAN, JAN, ISSN, ISMN, ISSN, UCC EAN-128 and GS1-128.

The result, Vanity Barcodes says, is a barcode that goes beyond functional to serve as a powerful brand asset—and it’s pretty hard to argue with that, we must confess. One to try out on your own product packaging—or to emulate for specific niches or industries?

Patents, Patent Lawyers, Patent Search And All Related – **** Niche

Posted on 29 November 2009 by Michael

Patent is a word that I grew to love more and more, as I played around with this niche. Patents are expensive. They just are. The reason for that is that you have to hire a patent lawyer in order to file a patent. Patent lawyers are even more expensive than regular ones. (Actually, you don’t really need to hire a patent lawyer, if you know the process well).

Ok, so you have an idea or an invention you want to patent (silly me, ideas can’t be patented). The first thing you have to do is the patent search. Patent search is a process of reviewing all current patents on file, to make sure someone didn’t patent your idea years earlier.

There are two ways you can perform a patent search. One is to hire a patent lawyer. He or she won’t do the search themselves (they’ve got low paid helpers for that). And another way to do it is to perform a patent search yourself … online. Yes, you absolutely can do that. If you still don’t want to do it yourself, you can hire a specialized patent search company. That’ll cost you about 1/3 of the patent lawyer fees.

After that you have to file a patent. The choice, once again, is yours. A patent lawyer or you. After you register your patent, you are set to go. This is when you can file a crapload of patent infringement lawsuits. And that’s another great AdSense niche (patent infringement) that you should know about.

In order not to violate Google TOS, I rate niches with my own star system. ** – $0.20-$0.30 per click average, *** – $0.30-$0.50 per click average, **** – $0.50-$0.70 per click average, ***** – $0.70-$1.20 per click average. While I don’t mind sharing information on ***** niches, I don’t make this information publicly available because it would quickly kill these niches or get Google pissed off at me.

All AdSense niches were tested by me personally and your results shouldn’t be very different, unless your account was smart-priced, too much time passed since my testing, MFA got a hold of the niche or your site or traffic source sucks big time.

MLS And FSBO – Adsense Niche

Posted on 03 November 2009 by Michael

I’ve never seen MLS and FSBO on any high paying keyword lists, but these two acronyms perform very well for me. While the click average isn’t extremely high, the money keeps rolling in because site visitors view multiple ads. Here is why.

MLS stands for multiple listing service and basically, it’s a huge database where realtors list homes that are up for sale. FSBO stands for “for sale by owner”, which means that a house is being sold directly by the owner, so no realtor is involved.

MLS used to be controlled by the realtors, but not any longer. Any person who wants to sell the house without a real estate agent can now pay a flat fee (300 bucks usually) and get listed on MLS.

When people decide to sell their home, they first have to decide if they want to hire an agent and pay 3-6% commission or opt for FSBO. It’s not really a simple process to decide whether to hire an agent or not. So people tend to view multiple ads, in order to educate themselves about advantages and disadvantages of FSBO.

I have a feeling that FSBO and MLS niche is going to become more and more hotter, especially if the housing bubble bursts and many homeowners decide that they can no longer afford that agent commission.

Well see if that’s true or not soon.

Car Donations – **** Niche

Posted on 11 October 2009 by Michael

I’m telling you folks, the REAL profitable niches are A LOT DIFFERENT from what you see in so called “profitable keyword lists”. Forget credit cards, home loans, car insurance and other nonsense. The niches that pay out may appear very strange and unexpected.

Like car donations! Car donations? Yes, you heard me right – car donations. If you live outside US, this may not make very much sense to you, but people here donate their cars to charities and write this off as a tax break. Say, you have a total clunker that doesn’t run that you wanted to get rid of. You donate your car to charity and get a fat tax break for that year (the value of the car, which is often judged much higher than what the car you donated is really worth, had you tried to sell it).

Of course, you can donate boats to charities too, but not too many people own boats, so car donations happens to be a rather big niche. The dirty little secret is that when you donate your car, you don’t really donate it to a charity.

Rather, there are “middleman” companies that take your donated car, pay cash to charities (a small fraction), and they either fix your car, part it out or sell it. Charities aren’t really equipped to deal with donated vehicles.

Now, think about that. Someone would give you something that worth several hundred to several thousand dollars (donated car) FOR FREE. Wouldn’t you love it? All you have to do to get that free money is to advertise. Web is perfect for that.

That why car donations is a very hot niche. Unfortunately, some of the advertisers are traffic arbitrage sites, which lowers you earnings, otherwise you’d make well over a dollar per click. Still, if you manage to create a popular website that lists all charities that accept car donations, you’ll make a ton of money with AdSense.

That’s the news for today and don’t forget to tell your fiends about this site, if they are interested in making money with AdSense, but don’t know what niche to pick.

In order not to violate Google TOS, I rate niches with my own star system. ** – $0.20-$0.30 per click average, *** – $0.30-$0.50 per click average, **** – $0.50-$0.70 per click average, ***** – $0.70-$1.20 per click average. Mailing Lists And Mailing List Broker – **** Niche

Posted on 11 October 2009 by Michael

Mailing lists predate internet by at least one hundred years. For years and years mailing lists were the only way to get highly targeted list of prospects for just about any niche. How many mailing lists are there? Get ready to be shocked – there are over 180,000 mailing lists to be bought or rented in US alone.

Mailing list brokers are individuals and companies who help mailing list owners sell or rent their mailing lists to marketers. A good mailing list broker is worth their weight in gold – just ask any experienced direct marketer.

The biggest source of mailing lists is SRDS – Standard Rates And Data Service. If you want a parrot owner mailing list, you can get it there. If you want a mailing list of folks who suffer from schizophrenia, you can get it there.

With the advent of the Internet, mailing list brokers are starting to offer e-mail lists as well. And it really pays to be a mailing list owner – that’s why you see so many squeeze pages on the internet.

You can rent your mailing list out for 5 cents a name. This means you’ll get 50 bucks every time someone uses your list to mail 1000 prospects. And you can use the list over and over and over again. A great business indeed.

POS, POS System, POS Software – **** Niche

Posted on 11 October 2009 by Michael

POS, I love you. POS stands for point of sale and it’s another acronym that keeps cranking out money like crazy with AdSense. There are a number of point of sale (POS) items that you can get online. POS printers, POS barcode readers, laser barcode scanners, POS touch screens and so on and so forth.

However POS software and POS systems are the two niches that in my experience are the best in the POS world (barcode readers and barcode scanners are a close third).

To take advantage of this niche, you should have retail experience and know how stores work, what they need and don’t need. There are a number of POS sub-niches that are waiting to be plundered by experienced AdSensers – credit card readers, cash drawers, touch screen terminals, POS keyboards, receipt printers.

I do recommend you start out with the general POS niche and branch out into a sub-niche that works best for you.

In order not to violate Google TOS, I rate niches with my own star system. ** – $0.20-$0.30 per click average, *** – $0.30-$0.50 per click average, **** – $0.50-$0.70 per click average, ***** – $0.70-$1.20 per click average. Server Backup – *** To **** Niche

Posted on 11 October 2009 by Michael

Server backup is the best server niche for me. The fact is that there are a lot of server based niches other than server backup, but this one used to work wonders for me. Recently, I’ve seen a surge in server backup MFA and traffic arbitrage sites, which always results in decreased earnings.

I’ve did a lot of testing with other server niches and I don’t mind sharing my finding. Email servers are OK, but that’s a “quarter niche” and there isn’t nearly as much money in it. Dedicated server does better, but only if you have a web hosting related site. Linux server, Unix server or any manufacturer + server (HP Server, Dell Server, IBM Server) are nothing to brag about.

I’ve been told that SQL Server is a good niche, but I don’t know anything about SQL or other databases, so I can’t verify that. You are certainly welcome to try it out.

That’s it for today. Happy Friday and have a great weekend folks.

In order not to violate Google TOS, I rate niches with my own star system. ** – $0.20-$0.30 per click average, *** – $0.30-$0.50 per click average, **** – $0.50-$0.70 per click average, ***** – $0.70-$1.20 per click average. Profitable Geographical Niches (like Lake Tahoe or Aspen)

Posted on 28 August 2009 by Michael

Here is a brainlessly simple, but highly effective strategy for AdSense publishers who specialize in travel and tourism. It’s all about LOCATION. Here are just two examples of profitable locations – Lake Tahoe (most ads are for Lake Tahoe rentals and Lake Tahoe cabins) and Aspen (Aspen, Colorado, is famous for its ski resorts). There are tons more, of course.

Travel sites can generate a lot of money … if you do it right. If you have a site about travel in Colorado or California, you’ll do OK, but not nearly as much, if you target specific niches where the money is.

And the money is in expensive resort and popular destinations. Take Colorado. Boulder is a beautiful town, but the real money is in Aspen. Aspen is expensive, it draws tons of skiers and is fairly crowded in the off season, but more importantly there are hundreds Aspen rentals, Aspen lodges, Aspen cabins and Aspen hotels (these are the keywords to go after).

If you go after Aspen, rather than Colorado, and I don’t mean your site can’t mention any other city in the state, you’ll make much more money. But if you don’t know that the Colorado travel money is in “Aspen rentals” and “Aspen lodging”, you’ll be lucky to make one fourth of what you should.

Nobody, including Google, won’t tell you which geographical niches are profitable and which aren’t, but just use your common sense. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that Lake Tahoe and Aspen are popular destinations. And you probably know that tourists look for Lake Tahoe rentals or Aspen cabins online, when they plan for their trip. Put two and two together, create content that targets relevant keywords and watch your AdSense profits skyrocket.

Oh, and a word of caution – these niches may be seasonal. Don’t be a fool to expect your Aspen Colorado Ski Resort site to make you much money in May.

Have a great day and make sure to spread the word about NicheGeek.Com

In order not to violate Google TOS, I rate niches with my own star system. ** – $0.20-$0.30 per click average, *** – $0.30-$0.50 per click average, **** – $0.50-$0.70 per click average, ***** – $0.70-$1.20 per click average. Source: NicheGeek.com

Before picking a place you want to write about do some research and see what kind of ads are out there for the location you are picking.  Also make sure that location doesn’t have too much competition.  If there is a ton of competition for that location you are unlikely to make a huge profit because you won’t be getting the traffic you need from search engines.  Traffic from search engines is the best way to go when creating a niche website because its free and you don’t have to constantly work to get it.  Once you have it you will usually keep on getting it unless for some reason more relevant content becomes available on the subject and your rank goes down.  So try and pick a topic that is not seasonal if possible and it something that doesn’t have a ton of competition.  If you pick the right topic you will see some great success!

P.S. – if you don’t succeed with your first niche website don’t give up.  If you do you will never be successful.  Keep at it until you find something that works.  I myself have went through a couple niche websites and am now starting to see some success.  So keep at it everyone and eventually you’ll see the level of success you only dreamed about before!

Amiya Alexander – 10 Year Old ‘Business Woman’

Posted on 22 June 2009 by Michael

bilde

Amiya Alexander bounds in front of a parked school bus at Bloomfield Hills Montessori Center, her smile so wide it shows off the red and black bands around her braces.

Those braces, her brown Baby Phat high tops and the poof of pink feathers affixed to her hair speak to the accoutrements of any 10-year-old girl.

Except Amiya owns another accessory: the school bus.

At age 10, Amiya Alexander is an entrepreneur — owner, founder and creator of Amiya’s Mobile Dance Academy, which travels around metro Detroit teaching kids hip-hop, ballet, tap, merengue and more.

Painted a searing shade of hot pink, Amiya’s bus has all but four seats ripped out, a dance floor installed and ballet barres and mirrors affixed to the walls. On the ceiling, glitter glimmers.

Since January, it has rolled around metro Detroit, driven by her great-uncle, Sundiata Abdul-Mateen, who was lured out of retirement to help.

Aside from Bloomfield Hills Montessori, Amiya also teaches classes at the Northwest Activities Center in Detroit and has instructed toddlers in ballet and salsa at Island Kiddie Kampus Child Development Center in Grosse Ile.

A dancer since age 2 and a member of the Detroit Pistons Junior Automation, Amiya moves as fluidly as a dancer on MTV.

“The kids just loved her,” says Shirley Mohney, owner of Island Kiddie Kampus. “The way she relates to them, she’s just so natural at it. For such a young little thing, she’s just got this whole charisma about her.”

The idea for the bus, Amiya says, came to her as she played with her dolls at “1:02 in the morning” at her Southfield home. She woke up her mother, Teberah Alexander, 30, who asked her daughter if it could wait until the next day.

Of course it couldn’t. And out tumbled Amiya’s plans for not just a bus but a business, one that would bring a space to teach ballet and tap and hip-hop from school to school, party to party, child to child.

Teberah, a registered nurse who owns a business called Compassionate Home Care, recalls her daughter saying, “Mommy, you’re a single mother, and I need to help you. I have to go to Harvard Medical School.”

Proceeds from running the business go toward Amiya’s education fund; she wants to study for a career in obstetrics because “I like babies, and blood is cool.”

So for Christmas, when other kids got Nintendo Wii games and systems, Amiya got the school bus.

“I think, it’s like, awesome,” says Amiya. “I didn’t think my mom would actually do it.”

It cost Teberah about $11,000 to buy the bus and rehab it to match Amiya’s vision.

Back at Bloomfield Hills Montessori, Amiya’s clients were seven girls, ages 2 to 7.

Inside the bus, they formed a line around Amiya, who stood a foot taller than the girls.

“Five, Six. Five, Six, Seven, Eight!,” she shouted, raising her arms.

Kids performing on the Nas track “I Can” start shouting “I know I can/ Be what I wanna be,” and Amiya moves, leading the kids left and right, through straddle jumps and arm pumps that end with a confident nod of the head.

“I like when she teaches, because she shows us a lot of moves!” says Grace Knapke, 6, of Rochester Hills, whose sisters, Kate, 5, and Jade, 4, also take Amiya’s class.

Parents like Tom Langlas of Bloomfield Hills, whose 2-year-old daughter, Kitty, dances in Amiya’s bus classes, call what she’s doing remarkable.

Says Langlas: “She’s a role model for all girls, all kids, really.”
